What is the my trips page?
On the my trips page you can record and view your scuba diving trips. For every trip that you have ever made you can record all the important data: location, dates and stats. You can even mark on the map the dive sites you have visited. You can upload your pictures and videos that you have made during the trip. You can share your experiences about the trip by writing a blog article. You can also search our user database for people who were there with you. They will receive a notification about this, so they can confirm.
What is it good for?
We want to make it easy to share your experiences. Every image, video or blog article that you write can be shared with your friends. Also you can see every content that your friends upload to the same trip. All you have to do is turn on "show content of members" . If this switch is turned on your trip page will not only show the content that you've uploaded, but it will also show the uploads from everyone else.
How do I know if someone else has added me as a member of his trip?
Look out for notifications in your inbox for trip membership confirmations. Maybe someone else has just selected you as a participant of a trip he had recorded.
What happens if I confirm a trip membership?
If you confirm a trip membership notification, a trip will be automatically created for you. The stats and dives that your friend has already recorded will be copied to your new trip, so that you don't have to record them again. Of course, you can modify this data as you like. If you have already recorded the same trip, you can indicate that this is the same trip. Your friend will then be added as a member of that trip, and his content will be visible there. Don't worry, nothing that you have recorded will be overridden by his data.
What are the dive sites and why should I care?
When you record a dive, please don't forget to provide information about the dive site also. The more dive sites are uploaded by our users the more accurate and complete the dive site database will be. This will then help you to record your trips and dives more easily.
What is the my contacts page?
On the my contacts page you can find all your scuba diving friends. This is where you can find or invite new ones.
Why should I use this contact list?
Most of the functionality of divingspace.com is based on your contact list:
  • You receive notifications about your friends diving experiences on your News page.

  • You can plan trips together with your friends.

What are Diving Centers?
Diving Centers are companies who organize scuba diving trips. On divingspace.com we have collected a huge database of these companies in order to help you help you to find the one that is right for you. We are continuously expanding this database with the help of the community and DC owners.
I own a Diving Center. I would like to control the information that appears about my DC. How can I do that?
On the home page of the DC you can choose to claim the DC. We have a list of email addresses for every DC. You can choose one of them and we will send you a confirmation email to that address. If you have access to that email address you can confirm your ownership by following a link in the confirmation email. This will give you administrator access to that DC.
I am a DC administrator. Now what?
You can now edit the information that appears about your Diving Center on divingspace.com. You can edit all the basic and contact information, update the fleet of boats that are available for organizing diving trips, you can add your employees. You can also organize trips online.
What is the employee list and what is it good for?
You can mark the users of divingspace.com to be the employees of your Diving Center. They will be listed under the employee section. Potential customers can see who they can dive with. More importantly you can give access to manage the home page of the Diving Center. So you can ask one of your employees to write a blog about the happenings at your company. Or he can also start to organize a diving trip online. If your DC is actively updating its home page you will receive more visitors and will be more popular in the online community. Think of it as a way of free advertisement.
What are reviews?
Users of divingspace.com can write reviews of a Diving Center. We only allow a user to write a review if he has been on a scuba diving trip with a DC. This way we would like to limit the reviewers to those who actually has been to a trip with the DC. If a DC receives good reviews it will be more popular in the online community.

Me and my friends have planned a scuba diving trip, but we have a big boat and we need some more people to join.
No problem. Just make the trip public. Other users of divingspace.com might be interested in joining you.
I'm planning a scuba diving trip but I'm having a hard time keeping track of all the applicants.
Let us help. For every planned trip, we provide three lists. The Waiting members list keeps track of all the new applicants in the order they applied for the trip. You can drag-and-drop an applicant from this list to the Candidate members list if you would like/allow him to come. Once he meets all the conditions you can indicate this by moving him to the Confirmed members list.
What is the difference between the Candidate and Confirmed members list?
The users on the Candidate members list are allowed to come, but they have to meet the conditions described in the trip. These conditions can be anything. They are specified by the trip organizer. It can be an advance payment or a copy of the passport. Whenever all the conditions of the met, the organizer will move the user to the Confirmed list.
I have applied to a trip. I received a notification that I'm a candidate for this trip. Is this a confirmation?
No. By moving you to the candidate list the organizer indicates that he would like you to come. Yet you still have some things to do. This is described in the conditions section of the trip. Please read it and produce the required documents or make an advance payment. Whenever all these conditions are met the organizer will make you a confirmed member. You will receive a notification about that also.
I cannot add a new user to the Candidate member list or the Confirmed member list. Is there something wrong?
No. You have probably reached the limit of the trip. For every planned trip the organizer can specify the maximum number of allowed members. If the sum of the candidate and confirmed members reach this number you are not allowed to add new members to the trip. You can always move some users back from any of these lists to the Waiting members list, thus allowing for others to come.
What happens with my planned trip? Does it get deleted?
No. The trip is never deleted. It just changes its functionality once the planned start date is reached. You can no longer invite users or apply for this trip. Instead every member of the trip can start to record their experiences to the trip. It would behave the same way if you started to record a past trip. Except you do not have to start to find the members of the trip, as the member list will already be populated with the confirmed members of the planned trip.
What is the my profile page?
This is where you can see and edit all your personal information. You can specify here your personal data, your diving skills, your contact information, even your diving equipments.
I don't want everyone to see all this information.
We respect your privacy. You can set up security settings to all your data. You can specify which groups of users are allowed to see your data. So you can choose to allow some sensitive information to be only seen by your friends.
What is the my messages page?
This is the page where you can check your messages. Messages can be private notes sent by your friends or they can be generated by the system. This is also where you can write your own messages to your friends.
How do I know if I have any new messages?
If you have new messages the number of these will be shown on the my messages tab. Based on your setting you will also receive email notifications also.
What are tasks?
Tasks are special messages generated by the system. These require your attention. It can be that someone has marked you as a friend and you need to confirm or reject this relationship. You will also receive a task if someone marked you as a participant of a trip. The task will remain in your task list until you decide on one of the options.
